Meet Our Missionaries: The Clemmer & Gutierrez Families and Dan Butry.

Working through American Baptist International Ministries;

International Ministries has grown and evolved over nearly two centuries of ministry. The movement is the oldest Baptist mission agency in North America.

Wellspring Church is honored to be involved in this mission through donations, letters and prayer support for our missionary families who travel to the poorest, neediest areas on the globe: areas devastated by war, famine, disease and natural disasters.

They provide food, medical help, emotional and spiritual support,  teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and sharing Good News with those who might otherwise have no access to the word of God.

You will definitely see the Hand Of God at work:

 Clemmer Family:

Ann and Bill Clemmer serve in the Democratic Republic of Congo as IM seconded missionaries to Interchurch Medical Assistance (IMA).

Bill is involved with the team that responds to victims of war crisis as well as epidemic disease outbreaks that occur often.  The team is currently responding to a recent deadly Ebola outbreak that has already claimed many lives.  The program has brought both "the word and hand of God" to populations devastated by a conflict which is estimated to have claimed over four million lives in the past five years (IRC report).

Ann teaches high school at The American School of Kinshasa (TASOK), where missionary and other expatriate children attend. Additionally, she continues to work with women's groups including AFESU in Vanga and a Christian based hospice group providing home care to victims of HIV/AIDS. She still finds time to home school one of their four children. She has previously served on an international accreditation board which evaluates and accredits similar schools on the African continent.

The Guttierrez Family:

Drs. Rick and Anita Gutierrez serve in Durban, South Africa together with IM partner the Baptist Mission of South Africa.

They train and equip local churches, pastors and missionaries to combat life-style related diseases like HIV/AIDS, heart and artery disease, diabetes and malaria.  Portable rapid screening tests for these conditions are offered by trained health builders.  The doctors continue to develop a health education DVD series that can be studied individually or in small groups. A holistic approach from the Christian perspective is offered in order to help people acheive their health and life goals.

The vision is to train two or four health builders in each participating church.  They would like to see this model of health building become a part of local church missions throughout Africa and other resource-limited settings.

Languages for ministry: English and Zulu

Dan Butry: GLOBAL CONSULTANT

One of the goals of American Baptist International Ministries is to help people to pursue peace, justice and reconciliation through ministries of conflict transformation and education, as well as by standing with and serving the victims of conflict.

http://www.internationalministries.org/missionaries/110

This goal is led by Dan Buttry, who serves as an International Ministries global consultant for peace and justice. Dan works with International Ministries missionaries and national church partners around the world to deal constructively with conflict situations. These conflicts may be social and political conflicts within a country, or they may be conflicts within the national church bodies that negatively impact Christian witness.

Dan will train church and community leaders in conflict transformation skills, utilizing experiential education methodologies and Bible study. He will consult with church leaders about conflicts plaguing them, and in some situations he may participate in mediation teams between conflicted parties. Dan also will explore ways for people interested in conflict transformation to accompany him and develop training and facilitation skills alongside him.
